Souvenir are a male/female 1980s tribute duo, from the East Midlands. They play the biggest hits from the decade, ranging from the likes of The Human League, Ultravox, Duran Duran, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Blondie, Gary Numan, and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and specialise in the synth pop classics from the era.
The two members of Souvenir, Sarah and Mark, have been playing together in numourous bands and projects for many years. Most recently, this includes original band The Unwanted. With this band, Sarah and Mark recieved radio airplay, released an album, and played numourous gigs around the country, reaching out as far as Manchester.
However, after becoming dississulioned with the local band scene, Sarah and Mark discussed forming a covers band. Due to Sarah’s love of early 80s synth pop, and Mark’s fasination with bands such as U2, Pet Shop Boys and Erasure, the decision was taken to evolve this idea to a tribute band to 1980s electronica.
Over the next few months, Sarah and Mark began painstaking regular rehearsals, and the 1980s electronica idea gradually began to expand to include more chart friendly, pop hits from the decade. Alongside the rehearsals came the lighting designs, the physical stage set, the outfits, and after nine painstaking months, Souvenir was born!
