Owner and chef of Shardana Catering, Stefano always watched and helped his mother and grandmother cook for their Saturday lunch during his childhood. It was a special day for the family, and their way to get together.
Whenever he saw them making some fresh pasta, the boiling water, the golden roast lamb cooking in the oven, and the scent that was in the air, he was in love with those sensations. So much so that he has made it his profession.
When he was 18, he started working for the first time in a restaurant kitchen in his beloved home region, Sardinia (Italy). Year after year, he managed to work in good restaurants where he met chefs who mentored and inspired him. He learnt how to recognise and use the best products and refine my techniques.
His leap in quality came when he decided to invest his savings and join the best Italian School, Alma, directed by the greatest Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi. It left him overwhelmed by passion, and he started to work in Michelin starred restaurants.
“When I am in the kitchen, I like to create quality food through the enhancement of the natural flavours of each ingredient. For this reason, at Shardana, I always try to use products from local small farmers and artisans.
This way, I’m sure of their high quality, and I am able to share their passion and love of the products.”
Stefano catered for my mums 70th birthday party. He was very
professional, organised and friendly and the food was fantastic!!
Everything was cleaned away afterwards and the whole evening was
perfect. Would highly recommend.

So much more than a dinner.....Stefano served us an event and an
amazing evening! We recently had Stefano prepare a meal to help
celebrate a family trip to Edinburgh. The dinner was one of the true
highlights of the week. What an amazing experience. Course after course
of Sardinian specialties.....the food was delicious and Stefano was
clearly deeply committed to giving us a once-in-a-lifetime meal to

The food was very tasty and very different from the typical "barmoral
chicken or steak" of pretty much every other wedding caterer in
Scotland. Our guests were very complimentary and said the same. We
engaged Shardana to provide a buffet style dinner for our wedding
reception. After talking about budget, Stefano arranged to cook dinner
for us, allowing us to sample a number of dishes. I recommend trying a
dish that you wouldn't normally try, the descriptions don't do the taste
enough justice! We negotiated a balance of dishes to keep the
vegetarians, vegans, gluten free and omnivore people happy. Which was
very easy because Shardana have lots of very good vegetarian and vegan
dishes (most Scottish caterers only supply basic veg as a side dish) and
the meat dishes don't contaiin any unncecessary flour. Even the gelatine
in the deserts were vegetarian. The company also arranged the catering
supplies and worked cleanly in the venue's kitchen. You should hire
these people! 🙂
