FAQs

  • Please, describe your act or business in on sentence:

Some of the finest professional and reliable London based jazz musicians available to hire for your event, wedding or party (modest we know!!).

  • What are the highlights of your career?

Performing for the CNN coverage of the Royal Wedding has to be up there. Others include performing the music of Miles Davis to a sold out St. James's Piccadilly (that's 500 people - pretty awesome for a jazz gig!) and becoming Professor of Saxophone at London College of Music.

  • What is your competitive advantage (special features)?

We have a Wedding Guarantee and also a Corporate Loyalty Scheme. Please enquire for further details.

  • What kind of events do you usually serve?

Mostly this jazz band is booked to perform as background music at Corporate Events (drinks receptions, gala dinners, award ceremonies, produce launches etc.), Wedding Receptions and also Private Parties.

  • Who are your previous clients?

Lazard Asset Management, HSBC Private Bank, Brick Court Chambers, Quadrant Chambers, The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn, The Royal Geographical Society, Reignwood Investments, Deloitte, BNY Mellon, Bloomberg, Ryder Reid LLP, Norton Rose, Ernst & Young, Evolve Events, and Polar Black Events to name just a few, plus lots and lots of private clients!

  • How can event planners pay for your services?

We accept payments by cheque or bank transfer (bacs or chaps).

  • How long do you play for?

The most common duration for our background music bookings are as follows: - 2 Hours, eg. 6-8pm containing 2 x 50 min sets 3 Hours eg. 6-9pm containing 3 x 45-50 min sets 4 Hours eg. 6-10pm containing either 3 x 60 or 4 x 45 min sets

  • Do you have your own PA and lighting?

Usually as background music we wouldn't supply a PA system or Lighting as they aren't usually required. If the event is very large (ie. 300+ guests) then a PA system can be provided for this act at an additional cost. Lighting is also available for this band at an additional cost. Please enquire for details.

  • Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?

We have both individual and company level Public Liability Insurance to the value of £10 million. It's important that you check this when booking musicians and if you are presented with a musicians union insurance certificate do remember that this only applies to the actual named musician not a whole band. That's why we also have a blanket level of insurance for our company Nathan Hassall Music Ltd. as well. All of our electrical equipment is PAT tested for safety every year. We can email you our certificates upon request.

  • How much space do you require?

This is dependant upon the amount of musicians performing but ideally you'd be looking at the following: - Jazz Duo - 2 x 2 metres Jazz Trio - 3 x 2 metres Jazz Quartet (including drums) - 4 x 2.5 metres Jazz Quintet (including drums) - 5 x 3 metres

  • My favourite tune is not on your list. Will you be able to play it?

We'll do our best! Sometimes a request doesn't work with the line up a client has booked but with sufficient notice we'll always try to include as many requests as possible.

  • How many breaks do you take? How long are they?

This is dependant upon the length of the booking, but as an example if you'r e looking to book a group to perform as background music for 3 hour block. eg. 6-9pm then usually they will perform for 3 x 45-50 min sets within this time.
