Lee plays modern pop, jazz standards and classical Piano. For weddings, parties and events. Accross the UK.

Biography

I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old. I began my career on board Cruise ships at the age of 21, travelling and playing around the world for 5 years, working for Cunard, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises. I then moved back to land and started working in London's famous hotels and department stores where I gained residencies at The Lanesborough, Harrods and The Dorchester, where I've held a Pianist residency for over 10 years.

I specialise in wedding entertainment and I currently performcat over 100 weddings per year. I have my very own Baby Grand Piano Shell which has been specially designed to be fully portable to fit into any function room. It's also easily assembled within 30 minutes.

I play all types of music from contemporary modern songs to jazz and rat pack music - check out my repertoire for the full list. My playing is never overbearing or too noisy. I have finely tuned my art after years of playing at High/Afternoon Tea events, where sensitivity and beauty in playing is the essence.

We recently used Alive Network to book Lee Matthews pianist to perform at our wedding on June 29th at The Haycock Hotel Wansford. Not only was the booking made with efficiency and precision but we were very impressed to be contacted by Mr Matthews in good time before the wedding to confirm our requirements, which made us feel very confident that all would go to plan. On the special day, Mr Matthews was superb - a true professional . His repertoire of tunes was extensive and provided the perfect background music to the wedding breakfast. Lee was very friendly and obliging and a pleasure to be in the company of. Not only would we not hesitate to use Alive Network and Lee Matthews again in the future but we would also highly recommend to friends.

"We decided to book a pianist quite early on in our planning process for our wedding, and after listening to a few on Alive Network's website we settled on Lee. I'm so glad we did. He was charming, very skilled and utterly professional. The guests loved him and he set the tone nicely for the day. Thanks Clare and Lee for all your efforts - I will be recommending you!

Lee Matthews was fantastic. He is a very talented pianist with a lovely attitude. He made our wedding ceremony very special by playing our less traditional wedding song options flawlessly. Gemma at Alive Network was also excellent. She provided a stress free booking service and responded to any emails/calls immediately. Many thanks to you both.

Lee was extremely polite, professional and friendly. In short he was simply brilliant and that was a view shared by all who had dealings with him on the day. He went out of his way to make sure the grand piano at the venue was further away from the top table, moving it himself, so that it was not too loud near the father of the bride which had been a concern. Lee then even came over to check that he was OK. Another brilliant moment was just before Lee left he checked whether Sarah and I wanted him to play any particular last song which he then did just for us while the wedding was going on around us. It was one of my favourite moments of the day. Quite simply, he was brilliant. Everyone enjoyed hearing him play and he really added a very large part to the memories that were created on the day. In fact, in some instances it was his playing itself which created the moment and will stick in our memories forever.

We are so pleased that we booked Lee for our wedding at Goodwood House. In advance of the ceremony he was very professional and prompt with responding to emails and didn't bat an eyelid when I changed my choices of music for the ceremony a week before the event! On the day Lee arrived and set up well in advance of the ceremony. As I started walking down the aisle Lee smiled at me which helped me to relax. Lee's enjoyment of music really comes across in his playing and his choice of music for the wedding breakfast was perfect. The volume was just right and we were able to talk without shouting but still hear the music. So many of our guests commented on how lovely it was to have such a talented pianist at our wedding. Lee helped to add a real sense of occasion to our day. We would not hesitate to book Lee again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to hire a pianist.
