Lost Shores Ceilidh Band, formed by three young Fifers with a passion for traditional Scottish music, are a fresh and exciting Fife band who enjoy a good ceilidh.

The band’s energetic style fuses traditional ceilidh tunes with some exciting modern twists which, combined with the lively ceilidh atmosphere, make for an enjoyable evening of music and dance.

The accordion’s melodies bring life to the dance floor, with the strong rhythmic pulse of the drums and guitar driving on the dancing, completing the trio's distinctive sound.

We provide dance instruction for all of the dances in our set, ranging from the simple, basic dances, to more technical country dances, so you won't be stuck!

FAQs

  • Please, describe your act or business in on sentence:

The band’s energetic style fuses traditional ceilidh tunes with some exciting modern twists which, combined with the lively ceilidh atmosphere, make for an enjoyable evening of music and dance.

  • What are the highlights of your career?

One or two of our highlights would be Performing at Scott Kyle's Highlander Fling event in 2018 and 2019 in the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, and Glasgow's Hilton Doubletree respectively, where we performed our full ceilidh set to cast, crew and international fans of the hit TV Show Outlander. Other highlights have included playing on board the historic ship HMS Unicorn in Dundee, and Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh, and also hosting Kirkcaldy's Twixmas Family Ceilidh in 2017 and 2018 where we performed to around 300 people at each event, as part of Kirkcaldy's festive celebrations (sadly discontinued for 2019) Every gig is a highlight for us though, and we are happy playing in small venues or large. Check out our website and Facebook page to see our previous gigs! There have been plenty!

  • What is your competitive advantage (special features)?

We play our music with the intention of having a fun ceilidh, and as such can be a little less formal than some ceilidh bands. This is an approach which has gone down really well with our audiences as not everyone wants a fully traditional, formal ceilidh, although we can cater for that too.

  • What kind of events do you usually serve?

Anything ... We cater for the clients, we have played onboard ships, in theatres, halls and outside! Its totally up to the client! We do our best to play anywhere as long as there is power for the PA!

  • Who are your previous clients?

Scott Kyle (Outlander TV Show and others), Levenmouth Academy, Association of Polish Veterans (SPK) in Kirkcaldy, ONFife Theatres, Youth1st, HMS Unicorn - Dundee, and many others

  • How can event planners pay for your services?

Cash, Cheque, or Bank Transfer are all available.

  • How long do you play for?

We organise our setlist to suit the client, but a "standard" ceilidh would see us playing 2 halves of around 60-90 minutes with around 45-60 minute break in the middle for refreshments etc, depending on the clients' needs.

  • Do you have your own PA and lighting?

Yes, PA and Lighting is provided!

  • Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?

Yes. All of this is sorted out!

  • How much space do you require?

Normally a 3x3m space is big enough but if any smaller we would have to play acoustically with a Cajon instead of Drum Kit!

  • My favourite tune is not on your list. Will you be able to play it?

Give us plenty of warning and we may be able to fit it in, although not all songs are ceilidh-able!

  • How many breaks do you take? How long are they?

We take breaks to suit the client! Normally 1 or 2 max ... disco can be provided at this time though!

  • What style of music do you offer?

Ceilidh, Folk, Trad, Teuchter, Disco, Dancing

  • Is it possible to request something that's not in the repertoire?

Yes, give us warning though so we can rehearse it, although not every song suits a ceilidh band's sound!

  • Do you do open-air acts?

Yes! We can play open air!

  • How long does it take to set up and pack away? How early will you need to be on-site?

Our setup and sound check should take roughly an hour and a half, depending on the venue and access etc. This can vary slightly either way. Pack-away normally takes around 45 minutes. We arrive with all of our equipment in 2 cars so access will be required for us to unload at the venue.

Set List/Services

We play a varied ceilidh program to suit any event, normally including well known dances, ie Strip the Willow and Gay Gordons but also some obscure ones thrown in to mix things up!

We can also provide additional music throughout the night on our PA system, this allows for background music during breaks etc, and also you have the option of running a playlist through our PA after the ceilidh has finished, if you are having guests staying on for a late finish.
