Las Guadalupes are named after the patron saint of Mexico, La Virgen de Guadalupe, and they channel the authentic spirit of mariachi music, bringing it to the world and to your heart.

The earliest mariachi groups in the mid 19th century through to the start of the 20th century had only guitar, violin and harp - the full mariachi with trumpets, guitarron and many musicians was a modern development in the mid 19th century. Las Guadalupes are going back to the early roots of mariachi music, playing traditional pieces with guitar and violin in the authentic mariachi style.

Las Guadalupes have performed nationally and internationally, most recently including the 2019 International Mariachi Women's Festival in Los Angeles, California, the 2019 Cinco de May festival in Pop Brixton, and the 2019 British Banking Awards and have been covered in press including La Opinión, El Ibérico and The Evening Standard.

Why Las Guadalupes?

DeAnna Avis, Mexican-American violinist and vocalist of Las Guadalupes is mariachi trained since the age of three and is the daughter of a renowned master of Arpa Jaliscience (Jalisco Harp), William Faulkner, Arpista Municipal de Tequila, Jalisco and Hijo Adoptivo de Zapotiltic, Jalisco. During her childhood, DeAnna trained with Mariachi Vargas violinist Don Nicolás Torres, learning the unique style of mariachi violin and especially the sones jalisciences and sones huastecos. DeAnna also trained and performed with mariachi masters such at the Mariachi Festivals in Tuscon, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico. DeAnna then played in other esteemed mariachi groups in London before co-founding Las Guadalupes in September of 2018.

Ingrid Rueda, guitarist and vocalist of Las Guadalupes is a Colombian singer-songwriter and guitarist, passionate about freedom of expression. Over the course of her musical career, Ingrid has extensive experience as a live performer worldwide. At the age of 10, Ingrid wrote her first song with strong, social and political content about Colombia and soon went on to graduate with a BA degree in Political Science. Ingrid’s arrival in the UK shaped her musical influences spanning Andean, Mexican, Cuban, French, Gypsy, Arabic, Flamenco, English and Rock vibes – all of which are present in her singing style and guitar playing today. Ingrid has won international awards, including two for best lyrics and two nominations for vocalist of the year UK. Ingrid has played with mariachi groups in the UK for the last 15 years before co-founding Las Guadalupes in September 2018, bringing her love of traditional Mexican music and female empowerment to life.

Las Guadalupes play traditional serenades, corporate events, festivals, weddings, cultural events and many more. The band have expansive repertoire of mariachi classics from different regions in Mexico and Latin America, and as composers Las Guadalupes have created unique mariachi arrangements of well-known songs in English. They gladly learn specific songs for your special events and will travel anywhere in the UK and the rest of the world.

Officially a duet, Las Guadalupes can also perform as a full mariachi using their backing band including guitarron (Mexican bass), vihuela (percussive Mexican guitar) and trumpet.

They have different outfits to suit each occasion including the traditional mariachi suit with sombrero, traditional indigenous embroidered dresses from Oaxaca, Mexico, evening wear for elegant occasions and anything in-between.

They perform acoustically or with their own sound system and have full public liability insurance.

"Las Guadalupes starred in our short film ""Odds On"" and were a treat to work with. Despite the long filming hours and additional acting required, they performed with so much enthusiasm and were a pleasure to have on set. They are extremely talented, funny and a joy to work with. Not only were they happy with everything we needed from them, they contributed great ideas to their roles. We hope they enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed having them. Highly recommended!"

We had the pleasure of meeting DeAnna and Ingrid in January where they performed for us in our primary school. We celebrated our new topic 'Hola Mexico!' with them. They were great fun and informed the children about their marvelous Mariachi music. A lovely pair of performers and pleasure to meet. I would definitely re-book Las Guadalupes for future events.

"Hi, the two ladies were wonderful. My wife (Colombian) was thrilled and had tears in her eyes with the surprise birthday serenade. They arrived bang on time and sang and played beautifully. Very professional and authentic (we see mariachi bands a lot when in Colombia).

Thanks again
