The idea of Krafty kitchen came about after visiting old friends in Cornwall, it’s something that I’ve dreamed about for many years but just wasn’t sure what it would be. To be honest it could be many things and that’s where the name came from.

The “Krafty” part was due to the flexibility of my own skills and my craft as a chef and the “Kitchen”, well that goes without saying.

I purchased and converted a horsebox trailer throughout the winter of 2018 and launched in May 2019, so there we have it “Krafty Kitchen” – a mobile kitchen that offers personal bespoke catering. So far we have catered at venues such as Archerfield Walled Garden, 40th birthday parties, vintage car shows, weddings and public events such as the Dunbar battle re-enactments.

I’ve been a professional chef for over 25 years, working in various catering establishments, from the leafy Oxfordshire Cotswolds, the beautiful Lake District and lots between before finally settling in East Lothian. I previously worked for ten years at the Royal Botanic Garden as the Executive Chef.

    Krafty Kitchen food trailer offers:

    *Middle eastern spiced Scottish reared lamb kofta sticks, shredded crisp salad, khyar bi Laban (cucumber yogurt dressing), traditional Khobez flat bread, harissa spiced skin on fries.
    *Krafty beef Burger sourced from John Gilmour’s of east Lothian , crisp shredded lettuce, sliced plum tomato, fried red onions, dill pickle, smoked cured streaky bacon, mull cheddar cheese, sesame seeded bun, crisp skin on fries. A variety of our house sauces.
    *Texas style low and Slow grilled and smoked Scottish beef brisket, we use whisky barrel smoking chips, our own smoked paprika mayonnaise, sliced dill pickles, chopped salad, American cheese sauce, brioche roll, crisp skin on fries.
    *Piri piri style marinated Chicken breast, shredded crisp salad, our own garlic and herb mayonnaise, soft brioche roll, skin on fries.
    * Malaysian style Char sui glazed pulled pork shoulders slow cooked over our open charcoal fire pit on the spot, tangy and sweet rojak pineapple salad, soft brioche roll, skin on fries.
    *Red tractor certified chicken wings, varies marinades from piri piri to hoi sin and many in between, our crisp skin on fries.

    All our meats and produce are locally sourced from suppliers within Edinburgh and the Lothian’s to ensure the freshest and highest quality. We use an open char-coal fire pit for an authentic flavour.
    We have a large range of marinades please if you would prefer something else let us know.
    All the dishes above have a vegetarian option, we can also work on a vegan option if required.
