Black Velvet Ceilidh Band Trio includes some of the most experienced folk musicians and the best dance callers in the South West. Look forward to punchy jigs and reels, played with panache and a dance caller who gets everyone involved, from ceilidh “newbies” to experienced dancers and makes sure that it’s a great fun event. A ceilidh or barn dance is a brilliant ice breaker at a wedding, birthday or family party. Want a Scottish ceilidh? The band has an excellent repertoire of Scottish tunes and the caller will include “Strip the Willow” and “The Dashing White Sergeant”. Want to go Irish? Irish jigs and reels underpin an Irish ceili, with dances such as “The Siege of Ennis” and “The Bridge of Athlone”. The ceilidh trio is led by virtuoso fiddle player, Mike Evans, supported by either guitar or accordion and a dance caller who will walk you through the dances then call out the moves as the music strikes up. I am planning an involvement event for patients detained in a Nottingham low secure hospital (NHS). One of our event themes is diversity and having looked at your act on the website, we feel it would fit the bill perfectly as you seem to offer a wide range of styles. We are looking to have maybe a 45 minute set, but this is negotiable, to take place mid-afternoon after the main part of the event. Please could you give me an idea of how much this would cost and if you would be available on this day?
Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for your help with organising Mariachi Rey on Saturday 2nd July. They were amazing and so very friendly and accommodating with all of the guests. I would hesitate in recommending both of you in the future.
Die Dorf Fest Kapelle Oompah Band were a great addition to Northampton’s German Christmas Market for Dec 2014. A fabulous combination of traditional oompah music, combined with Lady Gaga, The Pet Shop Boys, and a smattering of techno and disco…. The faces of the punters at the beer keller were a picture, as they realised just what they were dancing to..!..just great. From beer supping officer workers on their lunch, to pensioners on shopping trips, they held everyone’s attention, with much smiling and dancing.
I just wanted to say such a huge thank you for the amazing performance that you gave. You were so friendly and willing to help in any way that any nervousness about getting up to dance was immediately dismissed. I was extremely apprehensive prior to the night about how the dancing would go down, especially with my two left feet! However my worrying was in vain, what a fantastic night of dancing it was, so inclusive that any and all can get up and get involved, aged 5 or 105. You need no experience or talent, just listen to the brilliant calling, it’s all simple moves but when it comes together with all your friends and family on the night, prepare to be amazed. I can not thank the band enough for making our Wedding such a fantastic night, I have never seen so many people thoroughly enjoying themselves all at once. I can sincerely recommend the Black Velvet Band for any social occasion, your expectations will be exceeded. (10 / 10)
