Built in 1907 by Miss Annie Lawrence as an open air school dedicated to Psychology, it is an extraordinary building designed according to the Arts and Crafts Movement. It has been designated as one of the 'great historic buildings of North Hertfordshire'. This quirky, impressive building is available as a perfect venue in which to hold Weddings, Parties, Meetings, Concerts and other special occasions.

Since 1949 it has been the North Hertfordshire Masonic Centre, housing about 40 Lodges, being run and maintained by a Council drawn from the membership.


The Cloisters have their own chef and has teamed up with North Herts College to provide the catering.

Formerly a 19th century Welsh Presbyterian Chapel the building was sensitively renovated in 1989. In keeping with the original purpose of the building Amadeus Limited (ACL) bequeaths all of its profits to Subud®, an international charitable organisation committed to doing good works in the world, affiliated with the United Nations.


The building itself boasts an impressive Upper Hall, a more intimate Lower Hall (originally the Crypt), kitchen and cafe area, plus two modern meeting rooms. It is compact enough for exclusive use, but flexible enough to accommodate two smaller groups. Our clients frequently refer to the building having a level of comfort and ‘feeling at home’ that sets us apart.

The Underworld Camden

Over the years The Underworld has become the heart of the alternative music scene in England. Little is promoted about the history of the venue, although it dates back to the opening of pub above The Worlds End. The venue is itself owned by Glendola Leisure.
