The School offers the distinct benefit of offering a complete wedding day in one location with a truly flexible space in which to stage your ceremony, reception drinks, wedding breakfast and evening event, and with enough space to avoid the need for turning round rooms with guests in occupation. Every wedding we hold is unique, entirely bespoke for you (on average we only hold around 17 weddings a year) so don’t hold back when discussing your ideas with us! With an elegant, sacred feeling space for ceremonies and drinks served on the top terrace overlooking one of the most famous battlefields in England surrounded by over 1000 years of history, Battle Abbey really has the wow factor you’re looking for.


We can seat up to 120 guests in the fantastic wood panelled Duke’s Library for your wedding breakfast and accommodate up to 250 for the evening entertainment. We don’t have many restrictions but due to the size of the venue we recommend a minimum of 75 guests for the day.


All our Canapés, Starters, Mains and Desserts are prepared on site using fresh and, where possible, local ingredients from East Sussex.


The cost to hold a wedding reception or ceremony and reception at Battle Abbey School ranges from £2,500 (out of season midweek date) to £4,500 (summer season saturday) and will include exclusive use of the whole school site and surrounding outdoor space. You will also have full access the day before to dress the venue as required. Pricing for drinks and food will depend entirely on your choices. We can lay on anything from a barbeque or hog roast up to a five course sit down formal meal. If there’s something you particularly want, just ask!

We offer a friendly and professional service that will help you through the whole event from the planning stages to setting up the venue right through to the end of the day.


The ceremony hall is licensed for up to 100 guests. We are licensed for marriages and so you will be married on site. It is air conditioned with easy access to the toilets and a family room and bride's room.


Its easy to book your Registrar who will attend with the Superintendent Registrar and the Register. The number you need to call is 0300 200 1002. The bride and groom will be interviewed for 10 minutes each separately prior to the ceremony taking place.


A non-refundable deposit of £100 is payable to the Register Office, this is then deducted from the final payment. The price is dependent on the time of year but budget for approximately £500. The price is inclusive of two marriage cerificates. Civil ceremonies are exempt from VAT.

The Long Hall can seat 160 for a wedding breakfast, or up to 200 for a stand-up wedding reception. It is a magnificent beamed and paneled hall which is over 100 feet long and dates back to 1604. The vast inglenook fireplace, with a blazing log fire, gives a lovely warm welcome in the winter.
