Hamswell House

Hamswell, Bath, Bristol, BA1 9DG, Bath, Somerset
Up to 250 guests
Hamswell House is a historic manor house on its own estate. It has an orangery and picturesque walled gardens and is surrounded by stunning countryside. It is a private estate not a hotel, a golf club or a corporate events venue and that is what makes it so different.

When you hold your ceremony and wedding reception at Hamswell, you will have the exclusive use of the orangery and the grounds for the day and evening to share with your guests.

You can hold the ceremony inside the romantic 18th Century orangery with its Cotswold stone roof and huge arch windows. It can seat 40 inside, while the rest of the guests can watch and listen to the short ceremony from outside on the lawn.

Following the service, you can join your guests for celebratory drinks on the terrace and enjoy the stunning rural views over the Hamswell Valley with the Westbury White Horse in the distance.

The gardens and the backdrop of the house make the perfect setting for your wedding photographs. You and your guests are free to explore the walled gardens, pergola and terraced herb garden before moving to an elegant marquee for the evening celebration.

We can accommodate up to 240 guests in a marquee for a seated dinner. What's more, you are free to bring your own wine and bubbly for the celebration. We do not charge corkage, which saves you a small fortune.

Alternatively, if you are only looking for a small wedding for up to 40, followed by a drinks reception, we can arrange that too.

The Forum, Bath

1A Forum Buildings, BA1 1UG, Bath, Somerset
Up to 1600 guests
The Heritage City is an indisputable world class leader in the field of historical architecture. But even the longest-established residents are aware that, away from the iconic heritage trail, there’s always a new old treasure to discover - and The Forum is one such hidden gem.

Having opened its doors to the public as a cinema in 1934, this remarkable venue celebrates its 80th birthday in May 2014. The cinema remained in operation until 1969 and the building has since accommodated a bingo hall and a dance school before Bath City Church took the building over in 1989. “Many people don’t realise that The Forum is Bath’s biggest venue and the third largest seated auditorium in the south west of England,” says Daniel Hogston, who is justifiably proud of managing this unique venture. But for many years, the building was overlooked, unloved and allowed to slip into a state of careworn disarray. “When Bath City Church took The Forum over, it had been allowed to crumble into a sorry state of disrepair,” says Dan. “Thankfully, the church restored it to its former glory and recently set up a company called Bath Forum Ltd to manage the venue and deliver a new programme of events and to look at refurbishment as an ongoing project”.

Today, The Forum represents a true reflection of typical Art Deco-era splendour including lacquered wood fixtures and fittings and gold-leafed flourishes all subtly vying for your attention. In the elegant auditorium, the iconic green cinema seats offer a spacious, luxurious audience experience.

The Greenbank

57 Belle Vue Rd, BS5 6DP, Bristol, Avon
£15
Up to 100 guests
Zazu’s Kitchen is a small Bristol-based company with currently two restaurants in Bristol. The Greenbank is our first pub venture.
Our co-founder Toby likes to tell people, about the origins of our name,: “ A Zazu is an exotic bird which is the first up and last to bed… a bit like us.”.

It’s not actually true. He made it up.

It is an African bird. – a fairly plain one, sadly – and we have no idea about its habits. But Toby’s little jest does sum us up..

Zazus Kitchen is about people, food and neighbourhood. And an all-day service..

We chose to open in Easton because the Greenbank perfectly fits our values and aspirations: an iconic building in the heart of a strong, supportive local community.

We see our job as providing a great local place to meet, socialise, eat, drink, debate, sit peacefully with a good book, send an email, catch up with friends or enjoy a great cup of coffee or glass of wine in the courtyard sun and just be…. All day long.

We began life as a small outpost in a strong, neighbourhood community, Stokes Croft, on the corner of Jamaica St, Bristol.

We’ve since moved on but our roots remain the same.

Being a part of a local community is a key to who we are.
