Paige Patterson

Hi, I’m your event planning concierge.

About myself

I love travelling and taking weekend breaks to new places. I’m a huge bookworm and a wannabe movie buff. I love food and if I’m not eating I’m probably thinking about it…

My hobbies include going to the gym (that one is new!), cooking awesome food, going out to eat and see movies. I love music and have no limits to my taste; cheesy pop and heavy metal sit side by side in my playlists.

I started working in the events industry when I moved to Egypt for two years. I came back to the UK and completed my undergrad degree in ‘Music and Live Events Management’. Since then my CV and work experience grew and grew. I’ve had the pleasure of working at some of Festival Republic’s biggest sites as well as managing a team of over 20 students for my final events module project.

What led me to become an event planning concierge

Having gained so much field experience at university (literally) I was sure that my future with events would involve the planning and lead up to events rather than the literal execution. My job is perfect for this as I am involved in so many events happening all over the country simultaneously, and there’s not a muddy welly boot in sight!

How would I describe what I do at Poptop

My job here at Poptop mainly involves looking after the client. I will help in any way I can, be it: making calls to suppliers on behalf of the client, trying to match a cheaper quote or to explain the booking process. It’s my job to ensure that they find the perfect suppliers for their event, and do so efficiently, with my assistance on hand.

The worst event experience I have ever had

In terms of event planning, this would have to be a story from years ago at university. It was one of the first assignments we had as a class and it involved booking live acoustic music for a lunchtime session in a cafe. With it being such a small task we had no budget and subsequently booked students for the gig. Unfortunately, more of the performers cancelled than turned up so it ended up being a sort of ‘sing-off’ between a couple of acts whilst they attempted to fill the vast performance gap between them.

I’m happy to say my crisis management skills have also improved since then!

The craziest event idea I had to deal with here at Poptop

We received all kinds of request every day from the weird and wonderful to the straight-up bizarre and unbelievable! I’m a bit of a sucker for the romantic proposal ideas we receive but I think my favourite event request so far has been from a group of 10 lads in early 2018. They all pitched in to pay for a Mercedes party bus to drive them around their town for 10 hours straight so they could all play Pokemon together. You have to admire their commitment!

Hi, I’m your event planning concierge.

About myself

If I am not finding your dream supplier then I am usually socialising and also an avid sports fan. I started with Poptop in January 2017, and have been lucky enough to help plan some crazy events all over the UK, so this has truly become a hobby of mine.

What led me to become an event planning concierge

I have been involved with events from a young age although during my time at University was when I really started to see it as a career path. From planning concerts and showcases at university I realised I would love to do this on a larger scale. Here at Poptop, we cater for all events including festivals, weddings, birthdays and many more. It’s always great to hear feedback from our client’s – expressing that their event was a huge success. This gives you such a buzz knowing you were apart of making this happen.

How would I describe what I do at Poptop

Here at Poptop, my role is to match our clients with their dream supplier. It is my job to make sure we leave all our clients amazed and make sure they have an event they will never forget.

The worst event experience I have ever had

My worst event experience has to be a concert I went to during University. An event was organised to showcase the talented musicians at our uni. While all the musicians were fellow students, an amazing headliner was attracted, who has had many past chart hits. The night was going so well with all the students performing upbeat classics to please the crowd. Then the “headliner” took to the stage and started to play his new album, which was very slow and very depressing. The crowd started to boo and the musician started to shout back verbal abuse at everybody. Everyone was in such shock and everyone left, leaving the musician to an empty concert hall.

The craziest event idea I had to deal with here at Poptop

We come across so many crazy events at Poptop it is hard to pin one down. I would say the craziest event idea I have dealt with at Poptop was finding a singing/guitarists for a marriage proposal in a hot air balloon. We also have helped planned events for corporate giants such as Easyjet and Marks And Spencers.

Hi, I’m your event planning concierge.

About myself

I love travelling, speak German fluently and have lived in England, Germany, Scotland & Sweden (in that order).

In my spare time, I write reviews of gigs and records, so I listen to A LOT of music and I’m always hunting for new bands to listen to. My Spotify “Discover Weekly” playlist is my favourite thing about a Monday morning. I’ve recently started playing Dungeons & Dragons too, I love it! I really enjoy thinking up backstories for my characters, I often get a bit carried away.

Event planning has always been a hobby of mine, so when I joined Poptop in September 2017 I felt so happy that I could do my hobby full time. Now I’m here, I hope to help make memorable moments for all of our clients

What led me to become an event planning concierge

My degree is in Music Business and as I progressed through my years at university, I realised that I wanted to work in event planning. I chose Poptop because I wanted to help people plan events and it’s always so nice and lovely to get feedback from clients who have had an amazing event because of Poptop.

How would I describe what I do at Poptop

I would say that I try and help every single client in any way that I can. I want to be able to take the stress of planning an event away from the client and think that everyone deserves to have their dream event and will try my utmost best to make this a reality.

The worst event experience I have ever had

That’s a difficult question for me! I always try to find positives in any event I go to (even if I think it’s awful). But I’d have to say it was a gig when I was a teenager.

It was a “school night” (i.e Monday – Thursday) The gig was a 14+, so the room was filled with young people, here to see the main band (I honestly can’t remember the name of the headline act). The support act came out and they, as all bands tend to, were interacting with the audience. However, the frontman’s idea of “interaction” was to scream “WHO’S HERE TO GET WASTED?” and spraying the crowd with beer. To a bunch of underage teenagers.

Not exactly really awful, but highly inappropriate and my parents didn’t appreciate their young daughter getting into the car smelling of beer.

I’ve seen lots of weird and wonderful requests. I think the quirkier the better, they’re always so much fun to work with. My current favourite is a couple planning a wedding in a treehouse, that’s such an awesome idea!

Hi, I’m your event planning concierge.

About myself

Music and events have always been a great passion for me. I managed events from 2002 to 2013, and also DJ’d and produced music for around 5 years. I founded Poptop UK in 2014 and it has become my work, hobby, and passion.

What led me to become an event planning concierge

I was always happy to help my friends organising their private parties. Most people don’t have enough experience and often think that it’s a very hard process. I think that my main aim has always been to help people take their dream ideas for an event and make it a reality in the form of an incredible moment in their lives.

How would I describe what I do at Poptop

I try to take the stress out of Poptop clients and let them make their dream event a reality. Some ideas may even be impossible, but we always try extremely hard to find the right matching supplier for our clients 🙂

The worst event experience I have ever had

Probably one the parties, where I was DJ’ing. I was playing in front of 1500 students, who were expecting really popular Radio Top 20 playlist, but when I got to the DJ booth I realised I’d forgotten my case with CDs in it, I’d left it on the train! Luckily, I had a bag of records with me. The only problem was that most of my vinyls were underground techno and so the party was really weird.

I always enjoy helping husbands to try and gain forgiveness from their other halves. 🙂
